NetBase is a pro-active remote management system for real-time monitoring of voice equipment. NetBase enables service providers to enhance their service levels in a highly competitive environment. NetBase is a cross platform solution, which ensures optimized equipment availability and reducing operational costs.
Alarm handling is the most important and critical function of NetBase. Vital business equipment such as PBXs produce numerous messages and alarms. NetBase is designed to analyse all this data into useful information about the actual status of the PBX. NetBase collects, filters and correlates the data, then analyses, handles and distributes the relevant information to operators and technicians.
Multi-vendor | Improved service levels | The link between remote equipment service and monitoring requirements is multifaceted and demands scalable and versatile solutions. NetBase presents cleansed real-time information on business-critical voice elements independent upon equipment type. Combined with the NetMan2000 mediation devices from Mitec, NetBase displays critical alarm information from different equipment types in one common alarm interface. The cross-platform alarm interface gives service technicians a quick and comprehensive overview on all critical alarm situations enabling them to take adequate action at the earliest stage. | The NetBase system combined with NetMan2000 is a dedicated solution for real-time monitoring of functional status, temperature and other variables to ensure optimal network performance.
Bringing the element of real-time monitoring of voice elements in line with data networking equipment adds a new edge to the service and consequently the service level of a service provider.
Monitoring of different sites can be classified to reflect the individual requirements and service agreements. NetBase™ can be configured to handle alarms from each customer according to a severity scale, depending on the customers requirements to response time. | Improved response time | Increased revenue | NetBase in combination with NetMan2000 proactively detect, filter and correlate the complex and large amount of data. Any critical alarms are automatically transferred to the operator’s real-time view, thereby minimizing the potential impact on business operations. The service provider will be able to offer significantly improved response times. | Using the NetBase solution to increase the service level will enable the service provider to increase margins on service contracts. The offerings can be expanded and differentiated targeting groups of customers with tailored services. The NetBase – NetMan2000 basis can also provide the infrastructure for new and value added services like traffic analysis and accounting. | Solutions that help customers grow | | The climate of intense competition mandate solutions that ensure customer equipment are always available and operating at peak performance. NetBase offers fast return on investment by both increasing revenues and reducing costs. Cash flow is improved immediately allowing customer base growth at a low incremental cost.
Operational cost can be dramatically reduced using NetBase since the majority of the service and fault handling can be performed from a central location. More than 80% of all reported alarms can be handled and corrected remotely. The productivity of operators can be greatly improved through a more efficient organisation of the service apparatus. By viewing the entire customer base in real-time, NetBase helps to analyse the current status and predict future performance and service requirements.

Multi-vendor | Accurate alarm information | NetBase is designed to monitor telecom equipment from multiple vendors. NetBase handles both traditional voice telephony and VoIP solutions. A cross-platform monitoring and supervision solution reduces the complexity and costs of integration and compatibility requirements. The NetBase-SNMP Agent enables integration with other Enterprise Management platforms. | The comprehensive correlation procedures ensure that the alarm info displayed in the NetBase Viewer is relevant and provide a basis for prompt and proper action. NetBase will pro-actively update any status changes of the remote equipment. Response time can be improved for end-users with high reponse time requirements. | Centralized 24x7 monitoring | NetBase Viewer | NetBase has been designed for centralized service centers enabling a 24x7 monitoring of remote equipment. All customer, site and relevant information is congregated at one place. The NetBase Viewer enables real-time monitoring from a distributed Viewer. | NetBase comprises of two main applications, the NetBase Viewer and the NetBase Setup: The intuitive NetBase Viewer displays the real-time status of all the remote equipment at all times. The NetBase Viewer can differentiate between equipment types, regions, users etc. The integrated sorting functionality helps the operator to define priority of required actions. Before any alarm message is shown, it has been subject to a process of correlation and cleansing to ensure that only relevant alarms are displayed. The displayed alarms are presented in a comprehensive and easy-to-grasp English.
| Intuitive User Interface | SMS notifyer | The NetBase Viewer interface provides comprehensive, yet easy-to-read alarm and site information. The accuracy of the displayed information assists operators to make the right decision. | The SMS notifyer enables notification of selected alarms on specific customer’s alarm to mobile phones or pagers outside office hours. | NetBase Setup | Key Features | NetBase automatically configures the remote NetMan units with new software to reflect the individual requirements and service agreements. The configuration facility enables modification down to site-specific messages. | - The unique NetBase Sensor concept assembles specific alarms into logical groups of alarms thereby preventing event storms
- Specially designed for remote management of multiple remote sites
Automatic severity assignment and sorting functionality - Automatic polling and verification of status and configuration of remote NetMan units
- Translation of cryptic alarm codes to comprehensible English

The NetBase Repository | The NetBase Agent Communicator | The NetBase Repository stores information about all Status, Template and Log objects. It is using an underlying relational database management system (DBMS) implemented in a Microsoft SQL Server as its persistent store.
This makes it easy to extract data for later report generating tools. All the NetBase components are using ODBC to access the underlying DBMS. This keeps the architecture open and extensible to other platforms in the future. | The NetBase Agent Communicator administers the modems used for agent communication. The modems are used for performing configuration calls as well as receiving notification calls from the remote agent devices. The Agent Communicator also performs the necessary protocol translation between the Status and Template objects stored in the Repository and the NetMan protocol.
Upon completion of every communication session, a Notification Identification phase is performed, where attributes received from the agent are measured against user defined thresholds. Whenever a threshold is surpassed, a Notification is generated. | The NetBase Status Manager | The NetBase Setup | The NetBase Status Manager handles the status of all the NetBase Status Objects. Automatic polling and configuration, and sensor status propagation are among the tasks that are handled by the Status manager. | The NetBase Setup is the NetBase Supervisors primary tool for NetBase management and configuration of NetBase objects stored in the NetBase Repository. All NetBase object relations, templates, interactions, and thresholds are defined using this tool. | The NetBase Viewer | The NetBase SNMP Agent | The NetBase Viewer serves as the NetBase Operator™s interface to status of NetBase objects. The NetBase Viewer offers a smart filtering view of the NetBase Repository, organising complicated information into a simple, yet comprehensive, view of the objects of interest. Real-time status information is available, and lets the NetBase Operator view the ongoing Notification processing. The NetBase Viewer is perfect for multi-user environments where several NetBase Operators are performing service and maintenance on remote resources. Keeping track of state changes as well as utilities for saving the actions performed by the Operator are all vital parts of the NetBase Viewer. | The NetBase SNMP Agent allows NetBase to share its data with enterprise management systems such as CA Unicenter or HP OpenView. Based on the SNMP Extensible agent API offered by the Windows NT operating system, it integrates well into the Win32 architecture. | The NetBase Report Manager | | Superior reporting is a key feature of NetBase. You can create the comprehensive reports you need by simply selecting among the report options available within NetBase. No more wasted time digging through raw data dumps. With NetBase, clear and concise reports are just a few keystrokes away. And we eliminate your reporting burden by concentrating the data into one central location. Each notification reported to NetBase can produce a service report, complete with all the details required for analysing and resolving the problem. Reports for generating statistics on equipment downtime and NetBase Operator response times are also supported.
