Mitec Group is responsible for support and service of Event Manager (EVM) and MMS/E, originally from Ericsson. Mitec Group has assumed ownership and responsibility of both solutions due to the reputation and track record Mitec enjoys in the market for network management. The shift in responsibility provides an avenue to strengthen the Ericsson product portfolio in the area of network management. Both solutions can be obtained from the traditional Ericsson channels. MMS/EMultiservice Management Suite/Enterprise (MMS/E) is a family of GUI-based management applications integrated on one common management system framework, by use of existing industry platform functionality and use of existing applications. The platform is HP OpenView (HPOV) Network Node Manager (NNM) for UNIX (Sun Solaris and HPUX). The diagram below depicts the major building components of MMS/E. The Node Manager (NMG) handles network presentation of the physical network topology. It also handles traps and supports multi-node SW upgrade (for PFA and PFS/FS nodes) and auto-detection of physical connection changes between the PFA, PFS/FS and AXD 301. It also has a mechanism for minimizing the network polling (for those network elements). On a higher level the Alarm Manager (AMG), which handles alarms, acts as umbrella for all incoming alarms and events. It supports acknowledgments, operator comments and alarm filtering. Interface towards trouble ticketing systems is included. (Verified system is the ARS product from Remedy Corporation). The Performance Monitor (PMR) consists of Performance Data Manager (PDM) and Performance Presentation Manager (PPM). Performance Data Manager (PDM) is used to configure the performance measurements and receive measurement data from the PFA, PFS/FS network elements and to receive measurement data from the AXD 301. The data is stored in the Performance Database (PDB), a relational database that can be accessed by external systems. To configure and define the performance data to retrieve from AXD 301, the AMS (AXD 301 Element manager) is used. Performance Presentation Manager (PPM) displays graphical reports of the measurement data. PPM is a JAVA-based application. Usage Data Collector (UDC) retrieves billing data from the network elements at definable intervals. The data is stored in a configurable file structure, where it may be retrieved by external post processing systems. For further information and requests, please contact us: info@mitecgroup.com |
